Arnaud de la Croix

Arnaud de la Croix

Arnaud de la Croix was born in Brussels in 1959 and holds a degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of Leuven. He has been working in the Belgian publishing industry since 1983. After serving as editorial director of Éditions du Cri between 1983 and 1987, he became editor of the ‘Jeunesse’ department at Éditions Duculot.

In 1993, he joined Casterman and worked for 17 years for the Tournai-based publisher, which publishes the Tintin albums, before moving to Éditions du Lombard as publishing director in 2010 and 2011. As a teacher and lecturer, he is also the author of numerous essays and albums that are considered reference works.

The speaker’s best-known and most frequently translated historical works are:

  • Hitler et la franc-maçonnerie, published by Racine, 2013 (paperback edition in the Texto series by Tallandier)
  • Les Templiers, au cœur des croisades, Le Rocher, 2002
  • L’Érotisme au Moyen Âge, Tallandier, 1999, continuously reprinted and translated into ten languages

As a screenwriter, he wrote the historical triptych Bruxelles (published by Petit à Petit) between 2017 and 2019. La Seconde Guerre mondiale en BD, illustrated by Vicente Cifuentes, will be published in 2024, also by Lombard. The following year, he will tell the story of the Belgian royal family in Les Rois des Belges, also with the same illustrator and for the same publisher, in collaboration with screenwriter Jean-Philippe Thivet.
