Seven approaches to Freemasonry in a selection of comics from 1981 to the present day.
Freemasonry is represented in over 180 comics, sometimes as part of a series or a special album, sometimes it is only mentioned in one or more images. The exhibition includes comics published between 1981 and 2024, illustrating seven different perspectives: Stealth, Humanism, History, Crime, Esoteric, Conspiracy Theory and Humour.
Discover Freemason authors such as Hugo Pratt or Didier Convard, humorous illustrators such as Jiho and François Morel. Immerse yourself in the series ‘The Secret Triangle’ or ‘The Epic of Freemasonry’, in the fascinating world of comics and graphic novels that will give you a special understanding of the origins, history and practices of Freemasonry.
The exhibition will take place in the Swiss Masonic Lounge, Jupiterstrasse 40, 3015 Bern. It will be open to the public from 12 April 2025 to 28 June 2026 on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00. Admission is included in the museum entrance fee. Outside opening hours, guided tours in German or French can be organised on request by emailing info@freimaurermuseum.ch.
Two conferences are planned:
- Conversation with Didier Convard, scenographer, and Denis Falque, illustrator of the 12-volume series ‘L’épopée de la Franc-Maçonnerie’ (The Epic of Freemasonry)
- Conversation between Joël Gregogna, co-author of ‘Bande dessinée, imaginaire et Franc-Maçonnerie’ and Dominique Freymond, curator of the exhibition
